Another great topic from WikiHow. Some tips are more than obvious but here are some less known tricks:
Stop searching for a signal. When you are in an area with poor or no signal, your phone will constantly look for a better connection, and will use up all your power doing so. This is easily understood if you have ever forgotten to turn off your phone on a flight. The best way to ensure longer battery life is to make sure you have a great signal where you use your phone. If you don’t have a perfect signal, get a cell phone repeater which will amplify the signal to provide near perfect reception anywhere.
DO NOT fully discharge a lithium-ion battery! Unlike Ni-Cd batteries, lithium-ion batteries’ life is shortened every time you fully discharge them. Instead, charge them when the battery meter shows one bar left. Lithium-ion batteries, like most rechargable batteries have a set amount of chargers in them.

Even I think if you are getting poor signal, please switch your phone off if you don’t need it for a while. Charge your battery proper way like 2-3 hours for a lithium-ion batteries. Don’t charge your battery frequently. Keep your battery safe not to be thrown into water or fire.
